RECOGNIZING AND HONORING EDWARD W. MOWRY FOR FORTY YEARS OF | |
DEDICATED SERVICE TO NATION-WIDE TRACTOR TRAILER TRAINING AND | |
PLACEMENT CORPORATION | |

     WHEREAS, Edward W. Mowry could be described as the quintessential "man behind the |
1-2 |
wheel." For more than forty years, he has been training thousands of men and women to be safe, |
1-3 |
confident, and competent tractor trailer drivers; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, In October of 1973, Ed joined the Nation-Wide Tractor Trailer Driving |
1-5 |
School, a family-owned business run at that time by John R. McCarthy, who had founded the |
1-6 |
school in October of 1969; and |
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, In 1993, Mr. McCarthy passed away but the business remained in the family |
1-8 |
under the direction of his son and daughter and with Ed continuing to train new drivers; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, In 2007, the business was sold to Peter and Sharon Sawyer, and once again |
1-10 |
Ed remained a constant in the continuing enterprise. He works as a CDL Instructor and is |
1-11 |
currently the Director of Training; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Ed Mowry's dependable nature and gifted leadership and training skills have |
1-13 |
provided him with loyal and plentiful friendships and have proven to be an invaluable asset for |
1-14 |
Nation-Wide, as well as for the safety of Rhode Island and the country's highways for over four |
1-15 |
decades; now, therefore be it |
1-16 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
1-17 |
hereby congratulates and thanks Ed Mowry for his outstanding service. We furthermore wish him |
1-18 |
continued health, happiness, and success; and be it further |
1-19 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
1-20 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Edward W. Mowry. |
