EXPRESSING ITS DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MARY "AUNTIE

BABE" EVANGELISTA

     WHEREAS, Mary "Auntie Babe" Evangelista passed away peacefully on July 25, 2013

at Elmhurst Extended Care. She was the wife of the late Mario Evangelista; and

     WHEREAS, Mary Evangelista was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Lena

(Bucci) Francisco. Mary was a restaurateur and owner of the former Mario’s Restaurant on

historic Federal Hill in Providence, Rhode Island. She devoted her life to raising her two

nephews; and

     WHEREAS, Mary "Auntie Babe" Evangelista is survived by her two nephews, State

Representative John J. Lombardi, Esq. and his wife Denise, and State Senator Frank S. Lombardi,

Esq. and his wife Antonelia, two great nieces, Cassandra and Christina Lombardi, and her good

friend Patricia Gagnon. She was the sister of the late Edward Bucci; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Mary "Auntie

Babe" Evangelista; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to State Representative John J. Lombardi, Esq.

and State Senator Frank S. Lombardi, Esq.
