1

WHEREAS, Not every boy, nor even every Scout, qualifies for the high rank of Eagle.

2

Strenuous physical hurdles, high mental requirements, strong personal character, indomitable

3

spirit and a commitment to community service are a rare combination of qualities and

4

achievements to find in one person.  Richard Audette is just such an extraordinary young man and

5

his accomplishments are truly worthy and deserving of our recognition and praise; and

6

WHEREAS, In spite of peer pressure and other influences, there are those teenagers who

7

rise to the challenge.   Richard, a member of Troop 31, Crompton, is just such a first-rate young

8

man.  He has demonstrated wide-ranging abilities, effective skills and the kind of self-confidence

9

that makes him a worthy leader; and

10

WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Richard earned numerous

11

merit badges and as the highlight of his scouting years, he completed the final step toward

12

obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout by planning and carrying out an extensive Eagle service

13

project.  Richard's Eagle Project was to take on the challenge of landscaping the front entrance of

14

the Blackrock Elementary School, his alma mater.  In a team effort, Richard organized the

15

trimming of overgrown bushes, putting down new mulch and crushed stones, and repainting

16

benches; and

17

WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout requires considerable perseverance and is

18

considered to be the pinnacle of achievement with the Boys Scouts of America.  It is an

19

exceptional distinction achieved by only about four percent of all the young men who enter

1

scouting; and

2

WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth, and to

3

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders.  Richard Audette is a remarkable young man
