	RELATING TO ANIMALS AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY - REGULATION OF VICIOUS
	DOGS

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Section 4-13-43 of the General Laws in Chapter 4-13 entitled "Dogs" is
2	hereby amended to read as follows:
3	4-13-43. Prohibition of breed specific regulation. -- No city or town may enact any
4	rule, regulation or ordinance specific to any breed of dog or cat in the exercise of its power to
5	further control and regulate dogs, cats or other animals as authorized by this chapter, except in
6	those instances where the rule, regulation or ordinance pertains to spaying or neutering.
7	SECTION 2. Section 4-13.1-16 of the General Laws in Chapter 4-13.1 entitled
8	"Regulation of Vicious Dogs" is hereby amended to read as follows:
9	4-13.1-16. Prohibition of breed specific regulation. -- No city or town may enact any
10	rule, regulation or ordinance specific to any breed of dog or cat in the exercise of its power to
11	further control and regulate dogs, cats or other animals as authorized by this chapter, except in
12	those instances where the rule, regulation or ordinance pertains to spaying or neutering.
13	SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.

	BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

1	This act would provide that breed specific municipal laws be limited to spaying or
2	neutering.
3	This act would take effect upon passage.
