	RELATING TO HIGHWAYS -- CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF STATE
	ROADS

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Chapter 24-8 of the General Laws entitled "Construction and Maintenance
2	of State Roads" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:
3	24-8-45. Maintenance of street lighting on state roads -- Pawtucket. – (a) All
4	electricity, equipment and maintenance costs for street lighting along state maintained roadways
5	in the city of Pawtucket shall be paid by the Rhode Island department of transportation.
6	(b) Lighting levels along these roadways shall remain at existing levels, unless
7	improvements are approved by the city of Pawtucket.
8	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

1	This act would provide that all electricity, equipment and maintenance costs for street
2	lighting along state maintained roadways in the city of Pawtucket would be paid by the state of
3	Rhode Island.
