RELATING TO FOOD AND DRUGS

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Diaz, Slater, Blazejewski, Almeida, and Williams

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 21-36-3 of the General Laws in Chapter 21-36 entitled "The Inter-

Agency Food & Nutrition Policy Advisory Council" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     21-36-3. Council composition. -- There shall be an inter-agency food and nutrition

4

policy advisory council which shall consist of three (3) seven (7) members: the director of health,

5

or his or her designee; the director of environmental management, or his or her designee; and the

6

director of administration, or his or her designee.; the director of the department of human

7

services, or his or her designee; the director of the division of elderly affairs, or his or her

8

designee; the director of the department of corrections, or his or her designee; and the

9

commissioner of elementary and secondary education, or his or her designee. The members of the

10

commission shall elect a chairperson from among themselves.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

RELATING TO FOOD AND DRUGS

     This act would increase the membership of the Inter-agency food and nutrition policy

2

advisory council from three (3) to seven (7) members, expanding the council to include the

3

director of the department of human services, the director of the division of elderly affairs, the

4

director of the department of corrections and the commissioner of elementary and secondary

5

education or their designees.

6

     This act would take effect upon passage.
