	RELATING TO ANIMALS AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY - REGULATION OF VICIOUS
	DOGS

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Section 4-13-43 of the General Laws in Chapter 4-13 entitled "Dogs" is
2	hereby amended to read as follows:
3	4-13-43. Prohibition of breed specific regulation. -- No city or town may enact any
4	rule, regulation or ordinance specific to any breed of dog or cat in the exercise of its power to
5	further control and regulate dogs, cats or other animals as authorized by this chapter, except in
6	those instances where the rule, regulation or ordinance pertains to spaying or neutering of pit
7	bulls and staffordshire bull terriers located in the city of Warwick, and provided such rule,
8	regulation or ordinance shall not apply to licensed breeders of such dogs.
9	SECTION 2. Section 4-13.1-16 of the General Laws in Chapter 4-13.1 entitled
10	"Regulation of Vicious Dogs" is hereby amended to read as follows:
11	4-13.1-16. Prohibition of breed specific regulation. -- No city or town may enact any
12	rule, regulation or ordinance specific to any breed of dog or cat in the exercise of its power to
13	further control and regulate dogs, cats or other animals as authorized by this chapter, except in
14	those instances where the rule, regulation or ordinance pertains to spaying or neutering of pit

1	This act would allow the city of Warwick to enact or adopt a rule, regulation or ordinance
2	pertaining to spaying or neutering of pit bulls and Staffordshire bull terriers located in the city of
3	Warwick, provided such rule, regulation or ordinance does not apply to licensed breeders of such
4	dogs.
5	This act would take effect upon passage.
