RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY - ASSISTED LIVING RESIDENCE LICENSING

ACT

     

     Introduced By: Representatives McNamara, Bennett, Malik, McLaughlin, and Azzinaro

     Date Introduced: February 27, 2014

     Referred To: House Health, Education & Welfare

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 23-17.4 of the General Laws entitled "Assisted Living Residence

2

Licensing Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     23-17.4-16.6. Posting of license and reports. – Every assisted living residence licensed

4

pursuant to this chapter shall display in a conspicuous public area of the residence the following

5

information:

     (1) A copy of the assisted living residence license that identifies the level of license and

7

names of the owner and operator;

8

     (2) The name and contact information for the current administrator;

9

     (3) The address and telephone number of the division within the health department that

10

will accept complaints or notice of violations of the sections in this chapter; and

11

     (4) A copy of the latest report showing results of the annual state licensing survey.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on September 1, 2014.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY - ASSISTED LIVING RESIDENCE LICENSING

ACT

     This act would require every assisted living residence to post in a conspicuous public area

2

of the residence: (1) A copy of its license; (2) The name and contact information for the current

3

administrator; (3) Contact information for the division within the health department accepting

4

complaints or notice of violations; and (4) A copy of the latest annual state licensing survey

5

report.

6

     This act would take effect on September 1, 2014.
