A N   A C T

RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES - WEAPONS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 11-47 of the General Laws entitled "Weapons" is hereby amended

2

by adding thereto the following section:

     11-47-63. Prohibition of possession of explosive materials. – (a) Any person who is

4

prohibited from possessing a firearm shall be prohibited from the possession of explosive

5

materials as defined in 27 CFR 555.23 – List of explosive materials. Any license or permit, issued

6

to a person so prohibited to conduct blasting operations or conduct displays of fireworks or

7

pyrotechnics shall be immediately revoked or suspended for the duration of the prohibition to

8

possess firearms.

     (b) Every person who violates the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction, be

10

punished by imprisonment of not more than five (5) years, or a fine of not more than five

11

thousand dollars ($5,000), or both.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would make it illegal for any person prohibited from possessing a firearm from

2

possessing explosive materials, or conducting displays of fireworks or pyrotechnics.

3

     This act would take effect upon passage.
