It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 42-64 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Commerce |
2 | Corporation" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 42-64-40. Workers' compensation subsidy program. – (a) The director, in cooperation |
4 | with the director of labor and training, shall establish a program that offers businesses with ten |
5 | (10) or less employees a subsidy to assist in the payment of workers' compensation insurance |
6 | coverage for newly hired apprentices during their first year of employment. |
7 | (b) The sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) shall be appropriated to cover the cost of |
8 | this program. |
9 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
