WISHING TYLER SEDDON A MOST JOYOUS 7TH BIRTHDAY AND DECLARING

MARCH 6, 2014, TO BE "TYLER SEDDON DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Tyler Seddon is a determined young man fighting acute lymphoblastic

leukemia for the second time in his young life. Tyler was first diagnosed with this disease at the

age of three; and

     WHEREAS, When Tyler's cancer relapsed last November, his mother Rachel Seddon-

Dunn and family members wanted to surprise him, a big fan and supporter of police officers and

firefighters, with birthday cards from first responders, military service men and women,

firefighters, police officers from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and as far away as Ohio and

Pennsylvania. Tyler's supporters declared themselves to be "Tyler's Troops" and decided to honor

him by taking this idea to another level by visiting Tyler and encouraging and supporting him in

his courageous fight against cancer; and

     WHEREAS, Massachusetts and Rhode Island State Troopers, police officers, firefighters

and first responders will be leading a more than 200 police car and 100 fire truck procession to

Tyler's hometown of Burrillville, Rhode Island, where at a closed ceremony, cards, letters,

helmets and model fire trucks will be delivered to Tyler, along with a framed certificate naming

Tyler an honorary state trooper; and

     WHEREAS, On Thursday morning, March 6, 2014, on Tyler's 7th birthday, Tyler

experienced every young boy's dream as he was sworn in as the Burrillville Police Chief for the

day. He will be further honored at the State House with March 6, 2014 being declared "Tyler

Seddon Day" in the State of Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, All of the activities being done to support and encourage Tyler have a

second, even more important purpose, which is to raise awareness of the grave need for more

bone marrow donors, to encourage more people to be donors, and to help Tyler as he awaits a

bone marrow match; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby wishes Tyler Seddon a most joyous 7th birthday on March 6,

2014, and furthermore declares March 6, 2014 to be "Tyler Seddon Day" in the State of Rhode

Island; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

deliver certified copies of this resolution to Tyler Seddon and Rachel Seddon-Dunn and Family.
