PROCLAIMING APRIL 7TH OF 2014, TO BE "LUISA MARIE COSTAGLIOLA WHITE | |
DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, Luisa Marie White (née Costagliola), was born to Luigi and Rosina |
2 | Costagliola in Providence, Rhode Island, and is a graduate of Central High School; and |
3 | WHEREAS, In April of 1944, Luisa enlisted in the United States Navy. She served our |
4 | country honorably during World War II as the war raged on two fronts, in the Pacific and in |
5 | Europe. On July 30th of 1942, the Department of War had established a division within the U.S. |
6 | Navy consisting entirely of women. Luisa's selfless service during this tenuous time in our |
7 | country's history made her a true pioneer in the armed services; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Luisa Marie Costagliola White served in the Navy with extreme dedication, |
9 | achieving outstanding accomplishments as a Link Trainer Operator teaching Naval Aviators at |
10 | the Naval Air Station in Lake City, Florida; and |
11 | WHEREAS, As President of the United Veterans Council of Rhode Island, Luisa is to be |
12 | commended in the strongest possible terms for her honorable and dedicated service to all the |
13 | veterans in our state and her life as a daughter, wife, mother, and patriot embody the highest |
14 | traditions of Naval Service, and virtues much-admired in our state and nation; now, therefore be it |
15 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
16 | Providence Plantations hereby proclaims April 7th of 2014 to be "Luisa Marie Costagliola White |
17 | Day" in the State of Rhode Island. We furthermore wish her a wonderful 90th Birthday and |
18 | much happiness in the years to come; and be it further |
19 | RESOLVED, That this House hereby joins her children, grandchildren, and many friends |

1 | and admirers in recognizing and applauding the myriad ways that Luisa's life has made Rhode |
2 | Island a better place to live and we encourage the citizens of this state to reflect upon this |
3 | amazing woman's lifetime of accomplishments; and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Luisa Marie Costagliola White. |
