RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING SAMUEL J. ROBINSON ON ACHIEVING | |
SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

1 | WHEREAS, Not every boy, nor even every Scout, qualifies for the high rank of Eagle. |
2 | Strenuous physical hurdles, high mental requirements, strong personal character, indomitable |
3 | spirit and a commitment to community service are a rare combination of qualities and |
4 | achievements to find in one person. Samuel Robinson is just such an extraordinary young man |
5 | and his accomplishments are truly worthy and deserving of our recognition and praise; and |
6 | WHEREAS, In spite of peer pressure and other influences, there are those teenagers who |
7 | rise to the challenge. Sam Robinson, a member of Troop 1, Arnolds Mills, is just such a first-rate |
8 | young man. Throughout his scouting career, he has demonstrated wide-ranging abilities, effective |
9 | skills and the kind of self-confidence that makes him a worthy leader. He has held several |
10 | leadership positions including Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Troop Guide; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Sam has earned thirty-one |
12 | merit badges, ten more than the requirement for Eagle. In addition, Sam is a member of the Order |
13 | of the Arrow; and |
14 | WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years, Sam completed the final step toward |
15 | obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout by planning and carrying out an extensive Eagle service |
16 | project. He painted unique murals, designed according to the subjects taught in each area in the |
17 | hallways of the six wings of Cumberland High School; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout requires considerable perseverance and is |
19 | considered to be the pinnacle of achievement within the Boys Scouts of America. It is an |

1 | exceptional distinction achieved by only about seven percent of all the young men who enter |
2 | scouting; and |
3 | WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth, and to |
4 | celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Samuel Robinson is a remarkable young |
5 | man who exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be, and all that we hope our children will |
6 | grow to be; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
8 | Providence Plantations hereby honors Samuel Robinson for his untiring service to the community |
9 | and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication by which youth of this great state |
10 | may follow. We congratulate him for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, and extend |
11 | our very best wishes for good health and happiness in the months and years ahead; and be it |
12 | further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Samuel Robinson. |
