H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING EDWARD M. KWIATKOWSKI ON ACHIEVING

SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the

2

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than seven percent of

3

all the young men who enter scouting; and

4

     WHEREAS, Edward M. Kwiatkowski of Troop 1, Arnold Mills, is a remarkable young

5

man worthy of this prestigious achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our

6

recognition. In his distinguished scouting career, Edward has proven to be a self-confident young

7

man who has demonstrated wide-ranging scouting skills and has proven to be a true leader; and

8

     WHEREAS, Edward has served in numerous leadership positions with the Boy Scouts

9

including Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader. He has earned a

10

total of thirty-five merit badges, fourteen more than the minimum of twenty-one required for

11

advancement to Eagle. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow; and

12

     WHEREAS, As the highlight of Edward’s scouting years, he completed an Eagle Service

13

Project that had him working with the Cumberland Land Trust to blaze and refurbish the trails at

14

the High Rock Preserve and Otis Smith Farm/Rowbottom Preserve. His project demonstrated his

15

commitment to preserving the environment and natural settings within the Town of Cumberland;

16

and

17

     WHEREAS, Edward’s future plans include attending college and pursuing a history

18

degree. He has been accepted into the Honors College at George Mason University; and

19

     WHEREAS, It is fitting and essential to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Edward M. Kwiatkowski

2

exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to

3

be; now, therefore be it

4

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

5

Providence Plantations hereby honors Edward M. Kwiatkowski for all he has done to attain the

6

rank of Eagle within the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further

7

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

8

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Edward M. Kwiatkowski.
