EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF HELEN M. PLUMMER | |

1 | WHEREAS, Young people, away from home for perhaps the first extended length of |
2 | time in their lives, were always given a little piece of hope and encouragement from Helen M. |
3 | Plummer, a most beloved cashier at the Kingston Emporium on the University of Rhode Island's |
4 | campus, and so it is with great sadness that this House learned of her passing on April 7, 2014; |
5 | and |
6 | WHEREAS, Helen Plummer was better known by her family, friends and many admirers |
7 | by her affectionate nickname of "Nonnie." She was even better known to most of the students at |
8 | URI for her key phrase, "Have an excellent"; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Whether her "Have an excellent" sentence was finished with day, life, or |
10 | time, Nonnie's genuine caring and concern for those who passed through her life and line at the |
11 | CVS on campus brought a little cheer and smile to many people's lives; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Helen M. Plummer was born in Grant County, Kentucky, the daughter of |
13 | the late Owen and Ruth Skirvan. She had worked as a customer service representative for CVS |
14 | for the past twelve years; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Plummer was the beloved mother of Lori Plummer and Mark |
16 | Plummer, the devoted grandmother of Amy-Beth Plummer, Cady Butson and her husband, Sean, |
17 | and David Lee Butson and his wife, Megan. She was also the very proud great-grandmother of |
18 | six great-grandchildren; and |
19 | WHEREAS, In addition to her family and work with CVS, Mrs. Plummer was a member |
20 | of the Curtis Corner Baptist Church and was a sponsor for Feed The Children; and |

1 | WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Nonnie, a warm-hearted and gracious lady, left an |
2 | indelible mark on the lives of all she knew and loved, and she will be dearly missed; now, |
3 | therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
5 | Providence Plantations hereby extends our deepest sympathy on the passing of a most excellent |
6 | person, Helen M. Plummer; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Ms. Lori Plummer and Mr. Mark Plummer. |
