H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

WELCOMING THE SIXTEEN BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED YOUNG WOMEN WHO

WILL BE COMPETING FOR THE TITLE OF MISS RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Accomplished young women from across our Ocean State will vie for the

2

title and honor of being named Miss Rhode Island 2014. The winner will continue on to compete

3

with women from the 50 United States, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin

4

Islands for the title of Miss America; and

5

     WHEREAS, The Miss America organization is one of the nation's leading achievement

6

programs and the world's largest provider of scholarships for young women. Today's contestants

7

are not only beautiful, but must also be intelligent and talented; and

8

     WHEREAS, Sixteen of Rhode Island's homegrown beauties, Gabriella Adams, Amara

9

Berry, Samantha Bowen, Emily Cortez, Victoria Cuartas, Alexandra Curtis, Bryanna Cox, Ava

10

Delasanta, Ivy De Pew, Amber Lipsky, Brenna Miller, Mallory Mouseau, Nicolette Peloquin,

11

Raquel Perez, Jennifer Sanchez, and Gabriella Whitney will be competing for the title of Miss

12

Rhode Island, as well as the endowments, scholarships, and opportunity to compete on a national

13

level; and

14

     WHEREAS, The current Miss Rhode Island, Miss Jessica Marfeo will be stepping down

15

after a whirlwind year of travel, events and speaking engagements. She has been an eloquent and

16

admirable role model for young women across our state and she has truly earned our admiration

17

and praise; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

19

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates each of these beautiful young women and wishes

them all the best of luck in the upcoming pageant. We furthermore wish them happiness, good

2

health, and much success in all their future endeavors; and be it further

3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Gabriella Adams, Amara Berry, Samantha

5

Bowen, Emily Cortez, Victoria Cuartas, Alexandra Curtis, Bryanna Cox, Ava Delasanta, Ivy De

6

Pew, Amber Lipsky, Brenna Miller, Mallory Mouseau, Nicolette Peloquin, Raquel Perez,

7

Jennifer Sanchez, Gabriella Whitney, and Jessica Marfeo.
