H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE NARRAGANSETT PIER MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS TRACK

AND FIELD TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2014 RHODE ISLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS

TRACK AND FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

     WHEREAS, The 2014 Narragansett Pier Middle School Boys Track and Field Team

dominated the competition at the State Championship meet held in Wakefield, Rhode Island, on

May 17, 2014, winning the State Title and their fourth consecutive championship; and

     WHEREAS, The Pier Middle School Boys Track and Field Team continued their

dynastic run by winning the overall championship in convincing fashion, easily outdistancing

second place Curtis Corner of South Kingstown, by more than 24 points. Incredibly, eighty-five

percent of the team scored points by placing in the top six spots in the state for their particular

events. On an individual level, the Narragansett Pier Middle School squad was led by the

victories of Thomaz Whitford in the shot put, Tyler Pereira in the long jump, 100 meter dash, and

the 200 meter dash, and a victory in the 4 x 100 meter relay, by Tyler Pereira, Christian

Bourbonnais, Cole McGill and Damon Aldrich. Tyler Pereira was Rhode Island's top scorer,

earning 32.5 points; and

     WHEREAS, Winning a State Championship in any sport requires that every member of

the team give their best effort at all times, and be selflessly committed to achieving team goals

even at the expense of individual goals. The 2014 Narragansett Pier Middle School Boys Track

and Field Team had an abundance of such athletes led by Team Captains Tyler Pereira, Gian

Pandolfini, and Gavin Carey, along with Christian Bourbonnais, Curtis Grundy, Jack Ruscetta,

Nicholas Niles, Zachery Edwards, Austin Pratt, Kegan Schroeter, John Myers, Cole McGill,

Damon Aldrich, Kyle Gannon, Thomaz Whitford, Theodore Evans, Owen McCadden, Addison

Hurwitz, William Corson, Austin Rivers, Sean Kielty, Ben Reddington, and Wayne LaBore; and

     WHEREAS, The Narragansett Pier Middle School Boys Track and Field Team was also

blessed with the superb coaching, innovative leadership, and loving attitude provided by Deb and

Keith Ranaldi, Jamie Pereira, Michael Millan and David Grundi; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the Narragansett Pier Middle School Boys Track and

Field Team for winning the 2014 Rhode Island Middle School Boys Track and Field State

Championship; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Deb Ranaldi, Physical Education/Health

Educator, Narragansett Pier Middle School.
