RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING CHRISTOPHER D. KERN, TROOP 2 BRISTOL, | |
RHODE ISLAND UPON ACHIEVING SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, | |
THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

1 | WHEREAS, Scouting is a movement that challenges, inspires, and guides young men |
2 | toward high achievements and values as expressed in the Scout oath, law, motto, and slogan; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge, the pinnacle of achievement with the Boy |
4 | Scouts of America, is an exceptional distinction achieved by very few of the young men who |
5 | enter scouting; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Christopher D. Kern, a member of Troop 2 Bristol, is a remarkable young |
7 | man worthy of this prestigious achievement, and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our |
8 | recognition; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Christopher earned numerous |
10 | merit badges and worked as a counselor during Boy Scout summer camp at Camp Cachalot. As |
11 | the highlight of his scouting years, he completed the final step toward obtaining the rank of Eagle |
12 | Scout by planning and carrying out an extensive Eagle service project that involved clearing |
13 | brush and trees from a pathway at Coggeshall Farm in Bristol; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Christopher is an excellent student and plans on studying engineering in |
15 | college. He also was the captain of the varsity swim team, played varsity tennis and played the |
16 | trombone in the school band at Mt. Hope High School; and |
17 | WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth, and to |
18 | celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Christopher exemplifies everything an Eagle |
19 | Scout should be, and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2 | Providence Plantations hereby honors and congratulates Christopher D. Kern for all he has done |
3 | to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. We furthermore extend our deepest appreciation for his service |
4 | to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication by which the |
5 | youth of this great state may follow. We moreover wish him good health and happiness and the |
6 | best of times at his Eagle Court of Honor on June 22, 2014; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Christopher D. Kern. |
