H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING REPRESENTATIVE ELAINE A. CODERRE FOR HER SERVICE TO THE

PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, It is with regret and sadness that we bid farewell to our good friend and

2

colleague the Honorable Elaine Coderre, who is retiring from the Rhode Island House of

3

Representatives, District 60, after almost three decades of devoted service to her constituents in

4

the City of Pawtucket and the citizens of the State of Rhode Island; and

5

     WHEREAS, Representative Coderre was elected to the Rhode Island House of

6

Representatives in November of 1984. Earning the respect of her peers, she was appointed to the

7

post of Democratic Caucus Chairwoman and has also distinguished herself as a member of the

8

House Oversight Committee and the House Rules Committee; and

9

     WHEREAS, In addition, Representative Coderre serves on the Commission on Aid to

10

Families with Dependent Children Standards, the Commission on Department of Children, Youth

11

and Families, the Rhode Island Council on Alcoholism, the Association of Senior Center

12

Directors, and the Children's Code Commission. She is also on the Board of Directors for the

13

Senior Inn of Pawtucket and a board member of the Visiting Nurse Service; and

14

     WHEREAS, While now retired, Representative Coderre worked as Executive Director of

15

the Westminster Senior Center for many years. She is married to Raymond Coderre and has three

16

children and five beautiful grandchildren; and

17

     WHEREAS, Representative Coderre's presence in the State House has been steadfast,

18

reliable and reassuring. Her vast knowledge of the legislative process has been an invaluable

19

asset to, and as part of, the leadership of this state and she will most assuredly be missed; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

3

Providence Plantations hereby honors Representative Elaine A. Coderre as she concludes her

4

service in the Rhode Island General Assembly. We thank her for a job well done, and extend our

5

sincere wishes for her continued health, happiness and success; and be it further

6

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

7

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Elaine A. Coderre.
