S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE NORTH PROVIDENCE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM ON

WINNING THEIR 1ST SUPER BOWL TITLE IN 20 YEARS

     WHEREAS, Excellence and success in football can only be achieved through strenuous

practice, team play and spirit, confidence, and dedicated coaching; and

     WHEREAS, When the North Providence Cougars faced the Exeter/West Greenwich

Avengers in the Rhode Island Division IV Super Bowl Championship, in the season’s truly

ultimate contest for both teams, the Cougars captured the title with a crushing 46 to 12 victory,

resulting in the school’s first Super Bowl title in two decades; and

     WHEREAS, With head coach Glenn Williams, team captain Josh Breggia, senior captain

Alex Musard, quarterback Ian Brown, team members, Bevin Ingram, David Santanelli, and

Sebastian Dziadkiewicz, as well as amazing offensive and defensive talent, the Cougars ended

their undefeated league season at 7-0; and

     WHEREAS, For the second year in a row, the Cougars headed to the Super Bowl.  After

winning the coin toss, the Cougars quickly jumped to a 7-0 lead and never gave it up; and

     WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical development of

young people, preparing them for a brighter future by instilling the value of teamwork, the desire

for success, a routine of healthy living, and a sense of fair play; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby enthusiastically congratulates the North Providence Cougars on their outstanding season

and overall team record and for capturing the Division IV Super Bowl Championship Title.  We

furthermore wish team members and coaches good health, much happiness, and continued

success in all their future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Glenn Williams, Head Coach of the North

Providence Football Team.
