RELATING TO EDUCATION -- CURRICULUM | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 16-22 of the General Laws entitled "Curriculum" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 16-22-26. Availability of instruction in musical performance education. – All |
4 | secondary public schools including middle schools, or any other secondary schools managed and |
5 | controlled by the state, are strongly encouraged to offer as a part of the curriculum, courses in |
6 | performing arts, including musical ensembles, such as band chorus, orchestra and other |
7 | performance ensembles, with emphasis upon development of aesthetic appreciation and the skills |
8 | of creative expression. |
9 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on July 1, 2014. |
