     Date Introduced: January 23, 2014

Referred To: Recommended for Immediate Consideration

1

WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of

2

Martha Aramian.  She passed on much as she had lived her life, with dignity and surrounded by

3

her loving family.  She is survived by her sisters S. Sue Aramian and Margo Ragan, her niece

4

Jocelyn, her nephew Paul, her beloved grandniece and grandnephews Emma Ragan, Luca and

5

Bastian Micolucci, and her cousins Cheryl and Dianne Apkarian; and

6

WHEREAS, Martha Aramian gave generously of herself to her family, her friends, her

7

heritage, and those in need.  Together with her sisters and the International YMCA, she

8

established the Kazar and Nevart Aramian Child Care Center, as well as the Aramian Camp for

9

children and the Zevartaran for senior citizens in Vanadzor, Armenia; and

10

WHEREAS, The Armenian Heritage Park in Providence was designed, created, and

11

deeded to the city through Martha Aramian's determination and benevolence.  The park stands as

12

a testament to those in the Armenian community who endured the horrors of the Genocide and

13

made their homes and built new lives in this country.  Within the park, the names of these brave

14

families are engraved on granite stones and forever memorialized; and

15

WHEREAS, Martha had great faith and believed the Armenian Church was the

18

WHEREAS, Sir Winston Churchill was quoted as saying, “We make a living by what we

19

get, we make a life by what we give.”  Martha Aramian gave her time and her heart

20

generously.  She is truly deserving of our utmost admiration and gratitude and she will be dearly

1

missed; now, therefore be it
