S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING ITS DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE VOTTA FAMILY ON THE

PASSING OF ANTHONY JOSEPH VOTTA, SR.

     WHEREAS, Anthony Joseph Votta, Sr., 92, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at

2

Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Evelyn Ann (Spinelli) Votta. He was born in

3

Providence, a son of the late Antonio J. and Angelina (Ricci) Votta; and

4

     WHEREAS, As a young man, Anthony was a highly regarded Big Band musician. He

5

played all over the world, entertaining throngs of people with his musical skills; and

6

     WHEREAS, Anthony Joseph Votta, Sr. served our nation with honor, valor and integrity

7

during World War II with the United States Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier Ticonderoga.

8

When he returned from the war, he raised a family with his wife and embarked on a distinguished

9

40 year career as a buyer/merchandise man for the former Outlet Company in Providence, Rhode

10

Island; and

11

     WHEREAS, Besides his wife Evelyn, he leaves behind his son, Anthony J. Votta, Jr., and

12

his wife Amy, his daughter Marianne Votta, and three grandchildren, Anthony, Courtney and

13

Michael. He was the brother of the late Nicholas Votta, Dr. Paul Votta, Louis Votta and Maria

14

Votta; now, therefore be it

15

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

16

hereby expresses its deepest condolences to the Votta family on the passing of Anthony Joseph

17

Votta, Sr.; and be it further

18

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

 

1

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Evelyn Ann Votta.
