CONGRATULATING WOOD RIVER HEALTH SERVICES ON EARNING NATIONAL

RECOGNITION FOR PATIENT-CENTERED CARE

     WHEREAS, By demonstrating the ability to meet and exceed key elements and high

2

standards that are aligned with the joint principles of the Patient-Centered Medical Home

3

Program as established by the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Family

4

Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Osteopathic Association,

5

Wood River Health Services has earned national recognition by the National Committee for

6

Quality Assurance; and

7

     WHEREAS, Established in 1976, Wood River Health Services is a private, nonprofit

8

Community Health Center that provides services to approximately 8,000 southern Rhode Island

9

and southeastern Connecticut residents, from an area comprised of some of the lowest incomes in

10

the state outside of our inner cities; and

11

     WHEREAS, Wood River Health Services' mission is "to improve the health and well-

12

being of our community by assuring access to affordable high quality healthcare, coordinated

13

services, and health related information"; and

14

     WHEREAS, From primary care to dental, social services and specialty care, as well as

15

women’s and nutritional health, Wood River Health Services provides a full-spectrum of health

16

services; now, therefore be it

17

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

18

hereby congratulates and applauds the staff of Wood River Health Services for their dedication to

19

their patients and the community, and the commitment to excellence and teamwork that has

 

1

earned them recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance; and be it further

2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Michael Lichtenstein, President and CEO

4

of Wood River Health Services.
