S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING PROFOUND SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF VIRGINIA L. PERRY

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of

Virginia L. Perry, beloved wife of sixty-six years to Oliver H. J. Perry, II, and the devoted mother

of Nancy Perry, Harold Perry and his wife, Elaine, Oliver Perry, Jr., and his wife, Jo-Anne,

Martha P. Punchak and her husband, Alex, and Debby McDevitt and her husband, Jack; and

     WHEREAS, Born in East Providence, Mrs. Perry was the daughter of the late James and

Victoria Poyas and sister of the late Alice Smith and Shirley Barks; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Perry was a graduate of East Providence High School and Bryant

College. For twenty-seven years, she had been employed as a secretary and treasurer for Perry

Excavating in Lincoln and had also been a secretary for Edwards & Angell in Providence until

her retirement in 1987; and

     WHEREAS, For sixty-six years, Mrs. Perry had resided in Lincoln, where she made a

loving home for her family. She doted on her six beloved grandchildren, seven beautiful great-

grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; and

     WHEREAS, Virginia Perry was the heart and soul of her family. Her spirit will forever

be indelibly imprinted on the lives and in the cherished memories of her entire family and she

will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Virginia L. Perry; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Oliver H. J. Perry, II.
