EXPRESSING OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY ON THE UNTIMELY PASSING OF MAUREEN | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Maureen Azar, a devoted and beloved daughter and sister, and a dedicated teacher and |
3 | administrator; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Growing up in Central Falls, Maureen was the daughter of Joan Azar and |
5 | the late Louis Azar. She was the loving sister of Joanne Diggle, and the proud and adoring aunt |
6 | of her niece, Ashley Diggle. She sadly also leaves her partner, John Plaskon of New York; and |
7 | WHEREAS, To the immense good fortune of many a student, Maureen began her career |
8 | in education in 1985, as an elementary physical education teacher. She continued her education, |
9 | earning her administration degree and in 2001, was soon appointed Principal of Feinstein |
10 | Elementary School, and in 2008, was named Principal of Ella Risk Elementary School; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Always busy and on the go, Maureen had also worked as the assistant |
12 | recreation director in Central Falls for many years and had been a long time employee of Macy's |
13 | Department Store. She loved photography and traveling the globe, and was an avid animal rights |
14 | supporter and was a fitness enthusiast; and |
15 | WHEREAS, The most fitting tribute to Maureen Azar would be a celebration of her life, |
16 | a life in which each and every day was lived fully and joyfully embraced. She was fortunate to |
17 | have always enjoyed the total love and support of her family, and in return, she brightened and |
18 | enriched the lives of all around her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered; now, |
19 | therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2 | hereby expresses our heartfelt condolences to the entire Azar Family on the passing of Maureen |
3 | Azar; and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Joan Azar and Family. |
