CONGRATULATING THE RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM | |
ON WINNING THE 2014 LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL | |

1 | WHEREAS, After compiling a sterling 20-6 regular season record, and an outstanding |
2 | 11-3 conference record in the regular season and winning the 2014 Little East regular season |
3 | championship, the Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Team proved they were truly the |
4 | best team in the conference by winning the 2014 Little East Conference Women’s Basketball |
5 | Tournament; and |
6 | WHEREAS, After dispatching Plymouth State and Western Connecticut in the first two |
7 | rounds of the conference tournament, the Rhode Island College women faced a tough and |
8 | resilient Southern Maine team for the conference title, a team Rhode Island College had faced |
9 | twice in the regular season, winning at home and losing on the road. In a thrilling game that was |
10 | close throughout the match, the Rhode Island College women simply refused to lose and held off |
11 | numerous charges by Southern Maine in the second half to win the title by the score of 64-59; and |
12 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island College women were led by the outstanding play of |
13 | Sophomore Forward Vandell Andrade who scored nineteen points, went four for five from the |
14 | floor, eleven of twelve from the free throw line, and grabbed six rebounds and had three steals. |
15 | She was named the Little East Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Senior forward Cara Paladino scored fourteen points and grabbed ten |
17 | rebounds while Senior Guard Stephanie Prusko finished with fifteen points and four assists and |
18 | made the shot of the game when she hit a clutch three pointer with 58 seconds left in the game to |
19 | clinch the victory for Rhode Island College; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Winning a State Title in any sport requires that every member of the team |
2 | give their all and sacrifice personal goals in support of achieving team goals. The Rhode Island |
3 | College Women’s Basketball Team has those kinds of players in abundance with the |
4 | contributions of Cara Paladino, Alex Moore, Christian McDuffy, Ashleigh Greaves, Michelle |
5 | Lagrotteria, Vandell Andrade, Devin Hill, Danielle LeBlanc, Stephanie Prusko, and Jill Paladino, |
6 | as well as being blessed by the sterling coaching provided by Head Coach Kara Williamson, and |
7 | Assistant Coaches Kim Dweck and Rachel Ferri; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
9 | hereby congratulates the Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Team on winning the 2014 |
10 | Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament and wishes them continued success |
11 | when they play in the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament; and be it |
12 | further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball |
15 | Head Coach Kara Williamson. |
