S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JOSEPH FRATUS

     Introduced By: Senators Ciccone, Lombardi, Jabour, Lombardo, and Algiere

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Joseph

Fratus, the devoted husband of fifty-six years to Gloria Fratus, the loving father of Joseph J.

Fratus, Bruce Fratus and his wife, Catherine, Lynn DiOrio and her husband, Richard, and Donna

Mercurio and her husband, Vincent. He was also the proud grandfather of Carissa, Bruce Jr.,

Bryn, Michael, Vincent and Ryan, and the loving great grandfather of Nicolette; and

     WHEREAS, The son of Anna Fratus-Gaisford, Joseph Fratus had served our country

with honor and distinction in the Korean War. A hard-working man and loyal man, he was

employed by the City of Providence for thirty-three years; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Fratus was also an active and contributing member of the community.

He was the State President of the Grand Lodge of Rhode Island, a member of the Order Sons of

Italy in America, the Piave Lodge, the Grand Lodge of RI OSIA, the Knights of Columbus, the

Young Pannese Club, the Toscan Social Club, and the Madonna Del Rosario Society; and

     WHEREAS, Known for his hats and his humor, Joe Fratus was a steadfast gentleman

who left this world a far better place because of his life's endeavors. He enriched the lives of all

who knew him and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to Gloria Fratus and the entire Fratus Family on the

passing of Joseph Fratus; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Gloria Fratus and Family.
