HONORING MARIE TWOHEY FOR NEARLY FORTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE | |
TO THE PEOPLE AND CITY OF CENTRAL FALLS | |

1 | WHEREAS, For nearly four decades, Marie Twohey has conferred her diverse skills, |
2 | extensive knowledge of the city's various functions, and her impeccable attention to detail to a |
3 | panoply of positions with the City of Central Falls; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Central Falls, Marie is the daughter of Albert and Bella |
5 | Begin. Perhaps being the youngest of ten children instilled in her some of the many skills and |
6 | values she brought to her myriad jobs at city hall; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Marie attended Notre Dame Elementary School and Central Falls High |
8 | School. Upon graduation, she took a position in the City Clerk's Office. Within a year, she was |
9 | transferred to the Office of Code Enforcement and Zoning, where she spent the next decade |
10 | learning the ins and outs of her job and City Hall while simultaneously starting her family; and |
11 | WHEREAS, For Marie, becoming Certs trained and FEMA certified, as well as learning |
12 | code enforcement, disaster planning and shelter management, and attending the New England |
13 | Municipal Clerk Institute, were all just part of doing her job well. She was promoted to the |
14 | position of Deputy City Clerk and in 2007, she became the City Clerk, a position she held until |
15 | her departure on December 3rd of 2013. Additional responsibilities for Marie have included |
16 | purchasing for the City, overseeing the Canvassing Office, and being Clerk of the Detention |
17 | Board; and |
18 | WHEREAS, With a seemingly endless amount of energy, Marie also put as much |
19 | enthusiasm into her family life as she did her job. She has been involved with the Boy Scouts and |

1 | being a lunch mother at her sons, James and Timothy's school. She is both devoted and very |
2 | active with her church, and in teaching citizenship; and |
3 | WHEREAS, The accomplishments of Marie Twohey stand as testament to her |
4 | commitment to helping others and serving her community. She is a woman of unsurpassed |
5 | character and has truly earned the unqualified admiration and respect of all who have been |
6 | privileged to work by her side; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
8 | hereby honors and thanks Marie Twohey for nearly forty years of dedicated service to the people |
9 | and City of Central Falls. We wish her good health, much happiness, and continued success in all |
10 | her future endeavors; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Marie Twohey. |
