S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING PROFOUND SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF ROBERT MCCUTCHEON

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Robert

McCutcheon. Better known as "Bobby" to his family and many friends, he was the beloved

father of Angela Page Hawkins, Divina Lovegrove, Robert McCutcheon, and the late Kimberly

Page. He was also the devoted grandfather of Gania, Brooklynn, Londynn, Barrionna, Artevious

and Trayveon Hennessy, Angelyn and Dimetra McCutcheon, Andrew and Childress Sawyers,

Dana McCutcheon, and Charles McCutcheon; and

     WHEREAS, Bobby McCutcheon was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the son of

the late Childress and Mary McCutcheon and was the brother of the late Eugene Sawyer, and

Donald and Raymond McCutcheon. He was also the nephew of Betty Sullivan, with whom he

had a close relationship as well as many nieces, nephews, and loved ones who thought of him as

"Dad"; and

     WHEREAS, A graduate of Providence's public schools, Mr. McCutcheon continued his

education, earning his degree from Rhode Island College in the Preparatory Enrollment Program

(PEP); and

     WHEREAS, Mr. McCutcheon was a longtime and dedicated employee with the Rhode

Island Department of Corrections where he had most recently served as the Departmental

Grievance Coordinator; and

     WHEREAS, Active in the community from the time he was young, Mr. McCutcheon was

devoted to numerous local organizations including the Opportunities Industrialization Centers

(OIC) of Rhode Island and the Urban League; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. McCutcheon was a father, a grandfather, a professional and a role

model. He was a man you could always count on and a man who rarely missed an opportunity to

guide an impressionable young mind on the right path. He will be dearly missed; now, therefore

be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Robert McCutcheon; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Angela Page Hawkins, Divina Lovegrove, and

Robert McCutcheon.
