S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE SONS OF LIBERTY SPIRITS COMPANY AND FOUNDER

MIKE REPPUCCI ON WINNING THE BEST FLAVORED WHISKY CATEGORY AT THE

WORLD WHISKIES AWARDS

     WHEREAS, Since 2007, Whisky Magazine has annually bestowed a "World's Best" title,

the most prestigious award in whiskey-making, to the best whiskey in each of several designated

categories at the "World Whiskies Awards"; and

     WHEREAS, Sons of Liberty (SOL), a craft distillery located in South Kingstown, earned

top honors in the Best Flavored Whiskey Category at the 2014 London event, beating more than

300 entrants from around the world, many of which were created by distillers who have been

honing their skills for decades; and

     WHEREAS, Founded by Mike Reppucci in October of 2010, the Sons of Liberty Spirits

Company produced its limited edition, award-winning Pumpkin Spiced Flavored Whiskey by

combining the company's single-malt aged whiskey, the only one made in Rhode Island, with

pumpkins grown locally at Carpenter's Farm, then cut, cored, and roasted by West Warwick

restaurateur, Chef Kevin Millonzi; and

     WHEREAS, During three rounds of blind tastings, the tantalizing taste of SOL's

Pumpkin Spice Flavored Whiskey, which had already proven to be a winner at the 2013

American Distilling Institute's awards, once again proved to be reliably pleasurable to the palate;

and

     WHEREAS, In the immortal words of George Bernard Shaw, "Whisky is liquid

sunshine," and we are proud to recognize, and would be honored to imbibe this fine and

flavorsome product from our Ocean State; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby heartily congratulates the Sons of Liberty Spirits Company and founder Mike Reppucci on

winning the Best Flavored Whiskey Category at the World Whiskies Awards. We moreover wish

him good health, happiness and continued success; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Michael C. Reppucci.
