CELEBRATING AND CONGRATULATING RHODE ISLAND KIDS COUNT ON THE | |
OCCASION OF ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY | |

1 | WHEREAS, Herbert Hoover, our country's 31st President, once stated, "Children are our |
2 | most valuable resource"; and |
3 | WHEREAS, This year marks the twentieth year of advocacy for Rhode Island children |
4 | through the efforts of Rhode Island KIDS COUNT, "a statewide children's policy and advocacy |
5 | organization dedicated to improving the health, education, economic wellbeing, and safety of |
6 | Rhode Island's children"; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Rhode Island KIDS COUNT "provides independent, credible, |
8 | comprehensive information on Rhode Island's children" and "uses that information to change or |
9 | influence public policies and programs to improve children's lives"; and |
10 | WHEREAS, The information compiled by RI KIDS COUNT is backed by the best and |
11 | most current research and data available; and |
12 | WHEREAS, The RI KIDS COUNT Factbook provides a collection of data detailing the |
13 | wellbeing of our state's children and illuminating the need for children's welfare to be a critical |
14 | part of the state’s future economic investment strategy; and |
15 | WHEREAS, The organization also encourages collaboration from a panoply of people |
16 | and groups from across the community, including parents, volunteers, religious leaders, child |
17 | advocates, doctors, educators, directors of state agencies, and nonprofit leaders in order to find |
18 | and implement the best solutions to problems facing the state's children and families; and |
19 | WHEREAS, For the past two decades Rhode Island KIDS COUNT has been helping to |

1 | build a brighter future for our state's children and the organization is eminently deserving of our |
2 | gratitude and recognition; and |
3 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
4 | hereby congratulates Rhode Island KIDS COUNT on the occasion of its 20th Anniversary and |
5 | celebrates 20 years of effective advocacy for Rhode Island's children; and be it further |
6 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
7 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Executive |
8 | Director Elizabeth Burke Bryant. |
