S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING JOHN CUTE AND LEE MOSES FOR THEIR HEROIC EFFORTS IN

ASSISTING THE VICTIMS OF A CAR ACCIDENT ON I-95

     WHEREAS, Most people will go through their lives without any personal contact with a

potential life and death situation, without that defining moment that turns an ordinary person into

a hero. John Cute and Lee Moses faced such a challenge, and in that moment of crisis, without

hesitation, they did the extraordinary and risked their own safety to assure the wellbeing of

perfect strangers; and

     WHEREAS, Driving home after track practice, John Cute, a senior at Hendricken, and

Lee Moses, a junior at the school, witnessed the beginnings of a fiery aftermath from the collision

of two cars on Interstate 95; and

     WHEREAS, With no help yet at the scene, John immediately chose to pull into the

breakdown lane to lend assistance. Lee was shortly onboard with the mission as the two young

heroes exited their car and crossed four lanes of traffic on I-95 to lead the dazed passengers of the

crashed vehicles to safety; and

     WHEREAS, A short time later, a state trooper and an off-duty firefighter arrived to

augment the rescue efforts, followed by the police and rescue's arrival at the scene; and

     WHEREAS, As testament to the outstanding character and reputation of John Cute and

Lee Moses, when the story of their rescue efforts came to light, no one seemed to be the least

surprised by their quick-thinking valor and fearlessness. In their short lifetimes, these two young

men have already earned the respect and admiration of their teachers, administrators, friends and

family, and this was just another in a long list of admirable actions for these two amazing young

men; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby recognizes and honors John Cute and Lee Moses for their heroic and clear-headed actions

during dire and potentially life-threatening circumstances. These two men are truly an inspiration

to us all and we extend best wishes for their future happiness, success, and good health; and be it

further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to John Cute and Lee Moses.
