EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF BEVERLY A. BLOOMER

     WHEREAS, It is with heavy hearts that this Senate has learned of the passing of Beverly

2

A. Bloomer on May 23, 2014, at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. She was the wife of

3

thirty years to Craig W. Bloomer; and

4

     WHEREAS, Beverly Bloomer was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, a daughter of the

5

late Robert B. Clarke and Doris (Collette) Velletri, and step-daughter of Fred Velletri. She was a

6

lifelong resident of Pawtucket and had graduated from Tolman High School in 1960; and

7

     WHEREAS, Ms. Bloomer was the Aquatics Director at the Boys & Girls Club of

8

Cumberland-Lincoln for twenty-seven years, before retiring in 2007. She was also a Swim and

9

Gymnastics Coach, a Program Coordinator at the Pawtucket YMCA, and ran the MacColl Field

10

YMCA Summer Camp for many years. In 1960, she was honored by the Pawtucket YMCA as

11

their "Youth of the Year." Her greatest joy and passion in life was teaching kids how to swim.

12

She was also a devoted member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, where she taught

13

Sunday School and served the Congregation as a Deacon; and

14

     WHEREAS, Besides her husband Craig, Beverly Bloomer leaves behind her daughters,

15

Brenda Tillier, and her husband Joseph Reynolds, and Beth Bloomer, a son, Paul Tillier, two

16

brothers, Robert B. Clarke, Jr., and Vance Velletri, and several nieces and nephews. She was the

17

sister of the late Judith Clarke; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

19

hereby expresses its deepest condolences to the Bloomer family on the passing of Beverly A.

20

Bloomer; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

2

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Craig W. Bloomer.
