S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE SCOTT MUELLER FOR RECEIVING THE

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD FROM THE NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARDS

ASSOCIATION

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Scott Mueller, a member of the South Kingstown School

Committee, recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the National School Boards

Association (NSBA), for his "extraordinary commitment to public education"; and

     WHEREAS, Scott Mueller has been serving the citizens of South Kingstown with honor,

diligence and integrity for the past twenty-two years as a member of the South Kingstown School

Committee. His passion for ensuring that all children in South Kingstown receive an exemplary

education, and his tireless advocacy on their behalf, is second to none; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Mueller has been a National School Boards Association board member

since 2007. He has also served on the Board of the Rhode Island Association of School

Committees (RIASC) since 1994, and has enriched that Board and its mission in a variety of

capacities, including serving as the Board's President. He was a vital force in developing and

implementing the Rhode Island Association of School Committees current professional

development program; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Mueller has an M.S.W. degree from Columbia University and is a

Professor of Social Work at Rhode Island College. He has also demonstrated a personal

commitment towards expanding his knowledge and broadening his ongoing professional

development. He is a graduate of the Rhode Island Association of School Committees Leadership

Academy and has accrued more than one hundred hours of professional development at the

RIASC Master Academy; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby congratulates the Honorable Scott Mueller for receiving the Distinguished Service Award

from the National School Boards Association. We further thank him for all he has done to ensure

that the school children of South Kingstown receive the very best public education possible; and

be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Scott Mueller.
