JOYOUSLY CELEBRATING THE VISIT OF TWO BRUNO UNITED UNDER-13 BOYS

FUTBOL TEAMS TO THE RHODE ISLAND STATE SENATE ON JUNE 11, 2014

     WHEREAS, Bruno United is a premier youth soccer club for boys and girls. The club

was founded in 2002 by former Brown University Head Soccer Coach Mike Noonan and the

name Bruno is the nickname of the Brown University Bears Mascot. The connections between

Bruno United and Brown University still remain strong. Brown soccer coaches continue to coach

for Bruno. Brown University Men's Head Soccer Coach Pat Laughlin serves on the Bruno United

Board of Directors and provides advice and direction to the club, and Bruno teams attend Brown

soccer games; and

     WHEREAS, Bruno United is the only Rhode Island partner of the New England

Revolution Development Academy. Bruno United provides its players with elite professional

coaching and plays competitively against the strongest clubs in New England along with

participating in regional and national tournaments; and

     WHEREAS, Bruno United also works tirelessly to instill in its players the core values of

being excellent in everything they do, acting with integrity both on and off the playing field,

being fiscally efficient and responsible, making sure that resources are used wisely, and fostering

a deep connection to the community they live in and play for, and the families and loved ones that

support them; and

     WHEREAS, Bruno United has had a great deal of success on the athletic fields in its 12

years of existence. Most recently, two Bruno United Futbol Club U-13 Boys teams were declared

the champions of their divisions at the prestigious FC Delco Players Cup. The Bruno Futbol Club

teams won five games each between May 24-26, 2014, defeating several nationally ranked futbol

squads. The players earned this remarkable achievement through their hard work and selfless

teamwork, and they deserve all the accolades and recognition they have achieved for their

victories, their sportsmanship, and the enthusiastic spirit they exhibited throughout the

tournament. They have brought great honor to themselves, their families, the Bruno United Futbol

Club, and to the State of Rhode Island; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby joyously celebrates the visit of two Bruno United Under-13 Boys Futbol Teams to the

Rhode Island State Senate on June 11, 2014; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Andy Blackadar, President, Bruno United

Futbol Club.
