EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES TO THE RIZZO FAMILY ON THE PASSING OF ROBERT

G. RIZZO

     WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of

2

Robert Rizzo on May 22, 2014, in Boca Raton, Florida; and

3

     WHEREAS, Robert G. Rizzo was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Rita

4

(Costigan) and the late Guy Rizzo. As a youngster, he was an avid lover of all things related to

5

automobiles and it was this passion combined with a tireless work ethic and a strong belief in the

6

importance of customer service that led him to become the owner of a successful Ford dealership

7

in Rhode Island for more than thirty years; and

8

     WHEREAS, In addition to his Rhode Island dealership, Robert Rizzo owned several

9

dealerships in the State of Florida. He received numerous awards and accolades for his customer

10

service and other aspects related to his dealerships. He was also renowned for his philanthropy, in

11

particular his creation, along with seven business friends, of the Right Charitable Foundation.

12

This entity, of which he was Founder and Chairman, has distributed money to many charities

13

since its inception. Mr. Rizzo was also a member of the Rhode Island Automobile Dealers

14

Association for many years, served on the Advisory Board at Ford Motor Company and served on

15

the Board of Trustees at Roger Williams University. He was a former member of Quidnessett

16

Country Club, Carnegie Abbey and Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida;

17

and

18

     WHEREAS, In his spare time, Mr. Rizzo enjoyed boating, golfing, and travelling with

19

his wife. He was a fun-loving, honest and caring person who will be sorely missed by his loved

ones, friends and colleagues; and

2

     WHEREAS, Besides his wife of forty-one years, Donna (Scarpetti) Rizzo, Robert Rizzo

3

leaves behind his sons, Robert Rizzo and Todd Rizzo, and his grandson, Kaden Robert Rizzo. He

4

also leaves behind his mother, Rita, and his brother, Paul Rizzo; now, therefore be it

5

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

6

hereby expresses its deepest condolences to the Rizzo family on the passing of Robert G. Rizzo;

7

and be it further

8

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

9

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Donna Rizzo.
