S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING SENATOR DAWSON TUCKER HODGSON FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE

PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, On November 2nd of 2010, Dawson Tucker Hodgson was elected to the

Rhode Island State Senate representing District 35, which encompasses neighborhoods in East

Greenwich, North Kingstown, South Kingstown, and Narragansett. Over the ensuing four years,

he admirably served his constituents and the State of Rhode Island with diligence and distinction;

and

     WHEREAS, Senator Hodgson attained his Bachelor's degree from Bucknell University,

and subsequently earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law;

and

     WHEREAS, In 2010, Senator Hodgson won his first foray into politics, becoming a

member of the Rhode Island State Senate. Earning the respect of his colleagues, he was appointed

to serve as the Senate Deputy Minority Leader and is also a member of the Senate Committee on

Government Oversight, the Senate Committee on Judiciary, and the Senate Committee on Labor;

and

     WHEREAS, Senator Hodgson has touched the lives of so many people through his

diligent efforts, legislation, and support for Education Reform, Government Management Ethics,

Tax Policy, and Immigration; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to the many hours he spends in the Senate Chambers and in

committee hearings, Senator Hodgson is a devoted family man, married to Megan (MacDonald)

Hodgson and the proud father of two sons, Winfield and Charles; and

     WHEREAS, Senator Hodgson's leadership and tireless devotion to the citizens of the

Ocean State have earned him our unqualified admiration and respect, and he will most assuredly

be missed; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

hereby honors Senator Dawson Hodgson as he concludes his service in the Rhode Island General

Assembly. We thank him for a job well done, and extend our sincere wishes for his continued

health, happiness, and success; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to The Honorable Dawson Tucker Hodgson.
