H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING RITA A. RICCARDI ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT

     WHEREAS, Rita A. Riccardi joined the staff of the Rhode Island Board of Elections two

and a half decades ago. During her tenure in the Campaign Finance Division, she has not only

earned the respect of her co-workers but also the admiration and gratitude of our state's citizenry

for her ever-helpful attention to those who entered the building not knowing where to turn; and

     WHEREAS, Rita's official duties included assisting candidates for public office and

processing campaign finance reports, although her most notable role was perhaps that of an

unofficial greeter, as she truly excelled and sincerely enjoyed meeting each person who entered

the Board of Election's building; and

     WHEREAS, The many accomplishments of Rita Riccardi stand as testament to her

conscientious and dedicated commitment to upholding the integrity of the election process and to

helping others and her family. She is a woman of unsurpassed character who has truly earned the

unqualified admiration and respect of all who have been privileged to work by her side or who

she has graciously assisted throughout the years; and

     WHEREAS, Raised in the Federal Hill section of Providence, Rita is the youngest of five

siblings born to Anna and Leonardo Solitro. She currently makes her home in the City of North

Providence and is the loving wife of Joseph Riccardi, beloved mother of Rhonda, Krista, and

Joseph, and the doting and very proud grandmother of three grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, On January 11th of 2015, at Gianfranco's Ristorante and Bar, Rita will be

honored by the many friends, family, and co-workers whose lives she has enriched; now,

therefore be it

      RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby honors and thanks Rita A. Riccardi on the occasion of her

retirement after twenty-five years of dedicated service to the people and the State of Rhode

Island. We furthermore wish her good health, much happiness, and continued success in all her

future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Rita A. Riccardi.
