H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING JARED DEFOND UPON ACHIEVING SCOUTING'S

MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by about six percent of all the

young men who enter scouting; and

     WHEREAS, Jared Defond is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious

achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and

     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Jared Defond of Boy Scout

Troop 1, Manville, Rhode Island, earned the required number of merit badges; and

     WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward

obtaining the rank of Eagle, Jared planned, developed, and carried out a thorough cleanup of the

playground at St. James Catholic Church in Manville, Rhode Island. This extensive project

included the demolition and removal of old trailers that had been stored there; and

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Jared Defond exemplifies

everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby honors Jared Defond for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle

Scout within the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That this House hereby extends our deepest appreciation to Jared for his

untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication

by which the youth of this great state may follow. We wish happiness and continued success in all

future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Jared Defond.
