RELATING TO PUBLIC UTILITIES AND CARRIERS - DUTIES OF UTILITIES AND

CARRIERS

     Introduced By: Representatives Trillo, Costa, Slater, Diaz, and Carnevale

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 39-2 of the General Laws entitled "Duties of Utilities and Carriers"

is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     39-2-26. Timely provision of service. – National Grid shall provide services to any

individual or entity applying for service between November 1 and the subsequent April 30 within

twenty-four (24) hours of application therefor and compliance by such individual or entity with

all conditions required of such individual or entity in connection with such application except

when National Grid attempts to provide such service and a condition exists at the individual's or

entity's location which prevents installation of the service. In such latter event, National Grid

shall provide service to the individual or entity within twenty-four (24) hours of being informed

that the condition preventing installation of the service has been corrected.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
