H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING AND THANKING DON DRAPE FOR HIS DEDICATED EFFORTS TO

BENEFIT THE RHODE ISLAND TOYS FOR TOTS PROGRAM

     WHEREAS, Don Drape is a resident of the City of Cranston and the Branch Manager for

W. J. Grosvenor & Co., Inc., which is located in the City of Warwick. He is also one of the most

generous and hardworking volunteers with the Toys for Tots Program here in Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects

toys from October through December of each year. It then distributes these toys as Christmas

gifts to needy children in communities where the campaigns are conducted; and

     WHEREAS, Five years ago, Don Drape began collecting toys for less fortunate children

through the Toys for Tots Program. In his first year alone, Don collected an amazing 700 toys for

distribution; and

     WHEREAS, Over the course of his association with this munificent organization, Don

has rounded up a staggering total of 5,852 toys, with the 1,712 he collected in 2014, proving to be

his best year to date. In 2015, he hopes to top the 2,000 mark and we have little doubt that he will

succeed; and

     WHEREAS, The need for ordinary citizens to set aside time in their hectic lives to help

those who are the most innocent and most deserving in our state is a noble task that grows more

monumental each year and we are honored to recognize Don Drape for his dedication to putting a

smile and a little magic into the lives of Rhode Island's children; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby extends a warm and heartfelt thank you to Don Drape for his

altruistic efforts on behalf of the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program; and

be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Don Drape.
