RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING ALEX STOWE TROOP 1, PORTSMOUTH, UPON | |
ACHIEVING SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE | |

1 | WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the |
2 | Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all |
3 | the young men who enter scouting; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Alex Stowe is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious |
5 | achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Alex Stowe has been a scout for approximately nine years and has learned |
7 | many vitally important lifelong, lasting skills on his way to attaining the Rank of Eagle. To |
8 | complete the Eagle Scout requirements, Alex completed an extensive Eagle project which |
9 | consisted of installing 36 permanent trail markers on a five-mile segment of the Sakonnet |
10 | Greenway Trail on Aquidneck Island; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Alex has also been very generous with his time in support of various |
12 | charitable activities. He spent a week this past summer in Honduras volunteering for the Medical |
13 | Mission: Missions for Humanity. He, along with two fellow Bishop Stang students, cared for the |
14 | underprivileged patients at a centralized clinic and at a clinic in a remote mountainous area; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In addition, Alex volunteered this past Winter break week at the Orlando |
16 | theme park "Give the Kids the World," a theme park for sick children. He also volunteers |
17 | regularly for "My Brother's Keeper" in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, and served as an aid for the |
18 | Summer Bible School at Saint Barnabus Church; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Alex is a Dean’s list student who aspires to have a career in the business, |

1 | finance or engineering fields. He enjoys playing golf, tennis, and running track, and works in the |
2 | summer as a caddie at Carnegie Abbey; and |
3 | WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
4 | celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Alex Stowe exemplifies |
5 | everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now, |
6 | therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
8 | Providence Plantations hereby honors and congratulates Alex Stowe, Troop 1, Portsmouth, for |
9 | attaining the Rank of Eagle within the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Alex Stowe. |
