It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 17-25 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Campaign |
2 | Contributions and Expenditures Reporting" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following |
3 | section: |
4 | 17-25-7.7. Campaign financial accounts. – Every candidate for public office, who |
5 | receives more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) in contributions or expends more than one |
6 | thousand dollars ($1,000) in any one election cycle, shall maintain a campaign financial checking |
7 | account in a state or federally-regulated institution. Only campaign funds may be deposited in the |
8 | campaign checking account and these campaign funds cannot be comingled with any other non- |
9 | campaign funds from any source. |
10 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
