PROCLAIMING MARCH 24, 2015 AS "NORMAN G. FRECHETTE DAY" IN THE STATE

OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Norman G. Frechette is a highly respected and widely admired resident of

the City of Woonsocket, who has served the people of the city in myriad capacities over the

course of his lifetime; and

     WHEREAS, Committed to helping others and his community, Mr. Frechette has

diligently served for 46 continuous years on the Woonsocket Zoning Board of Review. From

1969 through 2015, he was unanimously reappointed by the twenty-two elected Woonsocket City

Councils for whom he has served; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Norman Frechette has also served for 15 years as the Chairman of the

Woonsocket Zoning Board of Review, and was the Vice Chair for four years. During his tenure

with the Board, he has worked under ten elected Mayors, the first of whom was former Mayor A.

Edgar Lussier; and

     WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Frechette was the President of the Rhode Island Zoning

Board of Review Association for two years, and President of the Rhode Island Blasters

Association for forty years; and

     WHEREAS, Norman Frechette is married to the love of his life, Audrey Frechette, who

has always proclaimed that "Norman is the voice of common sense and votes on zoning

applications with his conscience"; and

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Norman G. Frechette, an honest and steadfast

gentleman, has set a standard for excellence in public service that is an inspiration to us all; now,

therefore be

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby proclaims March 24, 2015 to be "Norman G. Frechette Day" in the

State of Rhode Island; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Norman G. Frechette.
