1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Cynthia |
2 | E. Morris. Better known as "Cindy" by her family and many friends, she was the beloved wife of |
3 | John P. "Pete" Morris, III, the devoted mother of two daughters, Christina Morris, R.P.H., M.D., |
4 | and Maryellen R.M. Sun, M.D., and her husband Michael Sun, and one son, John P. Morris, IV, |
5 | Ph.D. She was also the very proud grandmother of three grandchildren, Elina, Michael, and |
6 | Matthew; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Although born in Providence, Mrs. Morris was a life-long resident of the |
8 | City of Warwick. She was a daughter of the late Leonard and Viola Sheldon and the sister of the |
9 | late John W. Sheldon; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Upon graduation from Pilgrim High School, Mrs. Morris attained her |
11 | Bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island, where she was a member of Tri Delta |
12 | Sorority; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Morris and her husband were co-owners of Morris Farm in Warwick |
14 | since 1978. The farm has been owned and operated by the Morris family for 100 years. Previous |
15 | to operating the farm, Mrs. Morris had been a home economics teacher at Gorton Junior High |
16 | School; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Morris' brilliant smile welcomed all who visited the family's farm and |
18 | warmed the hearts and left an indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and loved. She will |
19 | be dearly missed and always remembered; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Cynthia E. |
3 | Morris; and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to John P. Morris, III, and Family. |
