H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MANUEL LUIS VIEIRA, JR.

     WHEREAS, Manuel Luis Vieira, Jr., passed away on April, 26, 2015. He was the

husband of Lillian Vieira and the son of the late Manual Luis and Annie Vieira; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Vieira attended Bristol Schools and served our nation with honor and

distinction as a Tech 5 in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a hard working man

his entire life. He owned Metacomet Garage and was a foreman at Kaiser Aluminum. He was also

a dedicated public servant who served the people of Bristol with integrity and diligence as a

member of the Bristol Town Council for three years. Mr. Vieira also served the citizens of Bristol

as a volunteer fireman for more than sixty years and was a past Commander of the VFW Anthony

C. Almeida Post # 237; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife Lillian, Mr. Vieira leaves behind his children, Lillian

Simonini and her husband, John, and James Vieira and his wife, Diane. He also leaves behind his

grandchildren, Alexander Simonini, Carrieanne Simonini DeLoach, Nathan Simonini, and

Katherine Schaus. He was the brother of Mary Luciano, and the late Annie Fortrin, Philomena

Torres, and Alice Correia; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences on the passing of Manuel Luis Vieira,

Jr.; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Lillian Vieira and Family.
