HONORING AND THANKING THE DEDICATED EFFORTS OF RHODE ISLAND'S | |
RECOVERY COACHES AND CONGRATULATING THE 2ND GRADUATING CLASS OF | |
THE RECOVERY COACH ACADEMY | |

1 | WHEREAS, A recovery coach is a mentor, a guide, a manager and an all-around support |
2 | system for persons recovering from addiction; and |
3 | WHEREAS, As a non-clinician, the recovery coach helps by removing or lessening the |
4 | personal and environmental struggles to recovery, and assists individuals and their families in |
5 | finding the resources necessary for achieving and maintaining a successful recovery; and |
6 | WHEREAS, The objective for each recovery coach is to keep their client sober and to |
7 | help restore a sense of functionality to their life. Recovery coaching is about preventing relapse, |
8 | providing structure and a sense of safety in order to protect the client’s fragile recovery in early |
9 | sobriety; and |
10 | WHEREAS, In Rhode Island, Anchor Recovery and Community Centers, located in |
11 | Pawtucket, Warwick, and Cranston, encourage people "in all stages of recovery to come to the |
12 | center, make new friends, or meet old ones, and just enjoy a safe place to be" while they are on |
13 | their journey through recovery; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Rhode Island's recovery coaches and Anchor Recovery and Community |
15 | Centers greatly improve the likelihood of a positive outcome for individuals in need by offering |
16 | the opportunity, hope, and resources to live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives without using |
17 | drugs or alcohol; now, therefore be it |
18 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
19 | Providence Plantations hereby honors Rhode Island's recovery coaches and congratulates the |

1 | newly State Certified Peer Recovery Specialists from the 2nd graduating class of the Recovery |
2 | Coach Academy and Anchor Recovery and Community Centers for their dedicated efforts and |
3 | achievements in helping individuals to find a path to successful recovery; and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Michelle M. Harter, CRC, Manager, Anchor |
6 | Recovery and Community Centers. |
