	H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N
	HONORING AND THANKING ANDY COONEY FOR HIS PERFORMANCE AT THE
	CELTIC TWILIGHT CHRISTMAS CONCERT TO BENEFIT THE ASSUMPTION OF THE
	BLESSED VIRGIN MARY CHURCH FOOD PANTRY

1	WHEREAS, Not surprisingly, Andy Cooney has been dubbed "Irish America's Favorite
2	Son." With a rich melodic voice and a dynamic stage presence, he has thrilled audiences around
3	the globe with his renderings of classic Irish ballads and his own hit recordings; and
4	WHEREAS, Born into a large Irish family, one of nine children, Mr. Cooney has been
5	singing Irish songs his entire life. He has performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall and other
6	venues across America, and across the sea, conveying his songs "directly to the hearts of his
7	audience"; and
8	WHEREAS, Proving that his heart is as large as his voice, Mr. Cooney aided the cause to
9	help feed the hungry in our state, by performing at the "Celtic Twilight Christmas" concert at
10	Park Theatre in Cranston. All proceeds from the concert were donated to the food pantry at the
11	Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church; and
12	WHEREAS, The need for everyone to pull together, to help those who are the neediest
13	among us, grows more crucial every day and we are appreciative of all who joined to make this
14	noble event a success; now, therefore be it
15	RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and
16	Providence Plantations hereby extends a warm and heartfelt thank you to Andy Cooney for
17	lending his voice and time to the Celtic Twilight Christmas concert to benefit the food pantry at
18	the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. We moreover wish him continued good
19	health, happiness, and much success; and be it further

1	RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
2	transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Andy Cooney.
