1 | WHEREAS, Jeannette Finch, daughter of John and Carol Finch, was born with |
2 | Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), also known as Brittle Bone Disease. Her father also suffers from |
3 | this disease. Osteogenesis has no cure and affects up to 50,000 Americans. It's a disease that leads |
4 | to frequent bone fractures in one’s life and other possible symptoms include pulmonary disease, |
5 | curved bones or spines, loose joints, muscle weakness, hearing loss, brittle teeth, and shortness of |
6 | stature; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Jeannette suffered her first fracture at the age of six months and has already |
8 | suffered five fractures in her legs and arms. Despite suffering from this debilitating disease, |
9 | Jeannette lives her life like any other young kid. She loves to swim, an activity that is good for |
10 | people with her condition, and dreams of being an artist one day. Most importantly, she bravely |
11 | battles her condition on a daily basis with good spirits, a sense of optimism, and has become an |
12 | ambassador for those suffering from Osteogenesis; and |
13 | WHEREAS, On April 21, 2015, in recognition of Jeannette's courageous fight against |
14 | Osteogenesis and her resolve to live her life like any other nine year old kid, Hasbro Children's |
15 | Hospital honored Jeannette Finch as their 2015 Children's Network Hospitals Rhode Island |
16 | Champion. In her ambassadorial role, Jeannette will highlight the lifesaving work of Hasbro |
17 | Children's Hospital and the immense importance of donating funds to support research, treatment, |
18 | and ongoing care at the Hospital; now, therefore be it |
19 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |

1 | Providence Plantations hereby honors Jeannette Finch of Coventry, Rhode Island, on being |
2 | named the 2015 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Rhode Island Champion; and be it further |
3 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
4 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jeannette Finch. |
